An English vicar with a double-booked church scuffled with a wedding photographer, sending him sprawling among the bridesmaids, because he was holding up the service, it was reported today.
Witnesses said Reverend Richard Smith headbutted Graham Kitching, then wrestled on the ground with him outside the church as 130 guests waited inside for the bride. Rev Smith then picked himself up, said "sorry about that" and led Andrea Pearson down the aisle of the church in Teesside, north-east England.
"The fracas began after Rev Smith told Kitching to stop taking photos as they were running behind time. The photographer said it wasn't his fault he'd double-booked the church. Then the vicar just lost it. He stormed over and butted him. The next thing they were on the floor and everyone was screaming."
The newlyweds plan to sue both men for ruining their day: "Our wedding photographs are ruined because everyone was in such a state of shock that it was hard to smile for the camera."
